City, State Police conduct narcotics, prostitution investigations in Newburgh

NEWBURGH – Two people were arrested by Newburgh City Police and investigators from the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team following an investigation. In a separate case, three women and three men were arrested in a prostitution case.
Both investigations were conducted in response to complaints made by residents of the city.
Acrel Simon was charged with felony criminal sale of drugs and sale with intent to sell, and criminal possession of drugs. He was also charged with loitering.
Graig Caputo was arrested in the same case for loitering. Both men live in the city of Newburgh.
In the second operation, also on July 23, police arrested Barry Sussman of Montgomery, Victor Luna of Highland Mills and Rueban Melvin-Robinson of Middletown, for patronizing a prostitute.
Charged with prostitution were Newburgh residents Jaime Lee Parker, Christine Spencer and Farrah Kirkland.
During the prostitution operation, a trooper spotted a man pointing a handgun at a group of juveniles on Broadway. A traffic stop was conducted at a .45 caliber gun was recovered.
Jason Cintron of Middletown was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. He was also wanted on a bench warrant from Middletown City Court.
