Woodridge fire chief, his brother, charged with gassing up personal vehicles with FD fuel

VILLAGE OF WOODRIDGE – The Woodridge fire chief and his brother were arrested by village police and charged with filling up their own vehicles with fuel meant only for fire trucks.
Chief David Begbie, 45, and his brother, Donald, 47, also a firefighter with the Woodridge department, are charged with scheme to defraud, criminal trespass and petit larceny. The chief, David, was also charged with official misconduct.  They were arraigned and released pending a future court appearance.
The men gained access to the fuel pumps at the village public works complex using a key provided by the village to the fire department.
Police said the investigation is continuing with the possibility of additional charges.
