HV Regional Economic Development Co-Director Dr. Dennis Murray
chats with Taylor

HURLEYVILLE – The Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council Friday discussed Round Five of the Consolidated Funding Application process for the Upstate Revitalization Initiative and this year’s priority projects.
The council met at the Center for Discovery in Hurleyville.
Regional Council Director Meghan Taylor said it has been going around to the counties they represent holding sessions to make sure that applicants understand the timeline and the characteristics for projects to receive consolidated funding approval.
“We’re just trying to bring in our projects through the various different counties,” said Taylor. “We’ve been holding these meetings all over the region to try to reach out to as many constituents as possible, building our project pipeline and trying to make sure that everybody understands the goals and initiatives that the council has to allow for them to align their projects with those initiatives moving forward into this year’s competition.”
Some of the goals the council has are aligned with projects promoting urban renewal, food and beverage manufacturing or industry clusters, waterfront developments, job creating infrastructure projects, high- tech and bio-firm businesses and projects that contribute to substantial job growth.
Taylor said that all of the applications have to undergo a vetting process and it would be hard to speculate on the chances of any one type of project, compared to another, receiving funding. The review process of each application is project specific and cannot be generalized toward other projects.
