STONE RIDGE – The Ulster County Community College budget for 2015-16 contains no tuition increase.
The joint Ways and Means and Education committees of the county legislature have approved the spending plan, which increases the county contribution by two percent to $6.4 million.
At $4,230 in annual tuition, Ways and Means Chairman Richard Gerentine said the school remains a good deal.
Enrollment is down, he noted.
“People are going to full-time colleges or trade school so they are trying to develop programs that will try to keep the kids into particular community colleges,” Gerentine said.
The budget does not include the $800,000 the county must pay to other counties for Ulster students attending their community colleges.
The full county legislature will vote on the spending plan at its monthly session next week.
