GOSHEN – It was unclear on Thursday if the third student reported to have died as a result of a crash between a drivers’ education car and a truck in Warwick on Tuesday had succumbed to his injuries.
At Wednesday evening’s candlelight memorial for the two confirmed fatalities, Goshen Superintendent of Schools Daniel Connor and county officials announced that Lucas O’Connor had died. On Thursday, Superintendent Connor sent an emailed letter to the community announcing that Lucas O’Connor had passed away.
One inquiry to Westchester Medical Center’s patient information line on Thursday morning indicated the teen was alive, but when a second call was made an hour later, that person was told the office could not release any information and transferred the call to a nurse who said she could not provide a status.
The hospital’s spokesman did not return several phone calls for comment on Thursday.
