BEACON – Mayor Randy Casale told a large crowd of supporters Wednesday evening that he is seeking a second four-year term as the top elected official in the City of Beacon.

Casale, right, told supporters “… it’s about what’s best for our community”

Standing on the shores of Fishkill Creek waterfall, Casale, a member
of the Independence Party who has the Republican Party endorsement, said
the city is better now than when he took office.
Support for his candidacy came from Republicans and Democrats alike. The former long-time coach had a significant impact on the youth of the community, noted Yvonne McNair, a city resident who said Casale took her son under his wing when he was in middle school. He had a universal positive impact on the youth in Beacon, she said.
“He became a dad to a lot of these kids. He became an uncle. He became a father and importantly, he became a mentor to all of them,” McNair said.
Casale, who was public works commissioner for year before he retired, said his only mission as mayor is to serve the residents of Beacon.
“I think us politicians have to start realizing egos have to be checked at the door. It’s not about us. It’s not about party. It’s about what’s best for our community,” the mayor said.
Casale said the city is in a better position financially today than it was when he first took office because of his administration’s belt tightening.
Ronald Ray, a former county legislator, is the Democrat candidate.
