Elderly man missing in Port Ewen is found

PORT EWEN – Law enforcement and emergency services personnel located 83-year-old Joseph Weisblatt late Monday afternoon, one day after he walked away from his residence on River Road in the Town of Esopus.
According to family members, Weisblatt was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
An all-day search by several agencies was undertaken until he was found in a wooded area by a search party around 4:50 p.m. on Monday about one mile from where he was reported missing.
Weisblatt was taken by Esopus Ambulance to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie in stable condition, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said.
The search was conducted by uniform, dive team and marine units of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and State Police, State Police Aviation, State Forest Rangers, State Park Police K-9, Ulster Hose Fire Department with their dive team, Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Ulster County Fire Coordinator’s Office, and fire departments from Port Ewen, Esopus, St. Remy, Spring Lake, City of Kingston and Highland.
