CLARKSTOWN – A motorcyclist, who was
clocked at speeds of over 100 miles per hour, was killed last Friday morning
when his bike ran off New Hempstead Road in the Town of Clarkstown and
he was ejected.

State Police identified the victim as Gregory Grant, 28, of Brooklyn.

At about 4:15 a.m. on July 3, troopers spotted a red motorcycle traveling
at over 100 mph on the Palisades Parkway in Clarkstown.

Troopers tried to pull the bike over, but the operator accelerated and
the chase was terminated for safety reasons.

An hour later, police spotted the same bike traveling in the other direction
on the Palisades. As Grant approached exit 11, a trooper turned on his
emergency lighting and he moved as if to pull over, then sped up again,
turning onto Hempstead Road. At that point, Grant’s bike ran off
the road onto the dirt shoulder, ejecting him.

Grant was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is continuing.
