YONKERS – The City Hall Clock Tower is lit in the colors of the LGBTQ this weekend to commemorate the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that grants marriage equality for all.
“Today our country took a huge step toward full equality and reaffirmed the principles our nation was founded upon, that all people are created equal and should be treated as such,” said Mayor Michael Spano. “In Yonkers, we are proud to celebrate out diversity as our greatest strength.”
On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that it is legal for all Americans to marry regardless of their sexual orientation.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo also directed that rainbow lights illuminate the spire of One World Trade Center Sunday night.
