ESOPUS – A Monday evening traffic stop on Broadway in the Town of Esopus resulted in the arrest of a Rosendale man.
Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle driven by William Markle, Jr., 33, and learned that he possessed a suspended driver’s license. Further investigation found that he was in possession of a loaded firearm inside the vehicle.
Markle was charged with felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and placed in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Deputies were assisted by members of the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
