STONE RIDGE – SUNY Ulster has a new president who will replace
Donald Katt when he retires in August after 47 years at the college.

Alan Roberts is currently vice president of applied science and technology
at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he has worked
for 24 years, having held a number of positions.

SUNY Ulster Board Chairman William Spearman said Roberts “brings
a focus on student success and a track record of developing community
partnerships, which are vital for SUNY Ulster to achieve its mission and
vision.”

SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher said Roberts “comes to SUNY with decades
of diverse experience in higher education, and I am confident that he
will be an excellent leader for the students, faculty, and staff at Ulster
County Community College as well as the surrounding community.”

Roberts said he is “looking forward to building on the college’s
strong foundation and to engage with students, faculty, staff and the
community to focus on student success. I will also work with community,
business and government leaders to ensure that the college continues to
meet the personal, educational and workforce needs of the citizens of
Ulster County.”
