SUGAR LOAF – The Orange County Land
Trust has received $13,500 in funding for conservation related projects
in the Hudson Valley and Delaware River Basin.
The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and the Hudson River Valley
Greenway awarded the land trust a grant for $3,500 to develop a web-based
conservation and educational mapping program, largely focusing on the
Mount Adam and Mount Eve region of the Warwick Valley which was identified
in the 2004 Orange County Open Space Plan as a “county area of scenic
significance.”
The land trust also received a $10,000 grant from the Nature Conservancy to evaluate floodplains around the Neversink River and Basha Kill and determine possible opportunities for conservation and restoration. The Neversink and Basha Kill are located within the Delaware River Basin.
