Stahli

KINGSTON – Kenneth Stahli, the man convicted of killing two-year-old
Mason DeCosmo, was sentenced in Ulster County Court on Thursday to 25
years to life in state prison.

Judge Donald Williams told the court that if there was a death penalty
on the books, he would have imposed it on Stahli.

Stahli was the boyfriend of the toddler’s mother. He was convicted
of inflicting several separate acts of physical abuse on the child over
the course of several days causing his death.

He was found guilty in May of second-degree murder.

Before sentencing, Mason’s grandmother, Michelle Lantgen, and mother,
Katlyn Wolfert, addressed the court. A statement from Mason’s father,
Louis DeCosmo, was read into the record.

Each individual described the loss of their young son and grandson. They
spoke regarding the impact of Mason’s death has had on their lives.
They each joined District Attorney Holley Carnright in called for the
imposition of the maximum prison sentenced.
