Pilgrim Pipeline opposed by Newburgh town board

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – The proposed Pilgrim Pipeline that would run from New Jersey to Albany is being opposed by the Newburgh Town Board.
Town Supervisor Gilbert Piaquadio said council members are not sold on the project.
“A lot of crude oil comes from out west and it comes to Albany, by rail car, and it gets to a refinery in New Jersey – whether it is by rail car or barge,” Piaquadio said.
Once it is refined, the product – oil, gas, or jet fuel, would come back north through a second pipeline.
Newburgh town officials are concerned about, among things, the proposed pipeline route by the town’s water supply.
