TOWN OF WALLKILL – A crash between
an empty school bus and an International Harvester truck on Route 211
in the Town of Wallkill Friday morning claimed the life of the bus driver.
State Police identified the victim as Raymond Lucca, Sr., 69, of Walden,
who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Donato Marangi Inc. truck, Cesar Leon-Sanchez, 21, of
Goshen, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Troopers said Sanchez’s truck drifted into the opposite lane of
traffic causing the head-on crash.
The accident occurred in the area of Harmony Christian School shutting
down the road.
State Police were assisted by Town of Wallkill Police, Montgomery and
Mechanicstown fire departments and the state Department of Transportation.
Route 211 was closed for several hours while an investigation was underway.
Charges are pending, police said.
