McBee – now in NY custody

GOSHEN – A Port Jervis man was arraigned on an indictment charging him with murder in the death of Port Jervis shoemaker and shop owner Josef Kucher, 77, who was robbed and beaten to death on November 7, 2014.
Dennis McBee, 29, was also charged with assault, robbery and tampering with physical evidence.
Port Jervis Police located McBee in a hotel in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania later on the same day as the murder, and brought him to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department. At the time he was apprehended, he was the subject of a Pennsylvania parole warrant.
McBee was being held in the Pike County Jail. Since he was still serving a Pennsylvania sentence, he could not be brought back to New York to face the murder charges at that time.
On December 2, 2014, an Orange County grand jury indicted him in connection with Kucher’s murder.
On Thursday, May 28, Port Jervis detectives took custody of McBee as he was released from the Pike County Jail and returned to Orange County Court for arraignment where bail was set as $500,000 cash or $2.5 million bond.
