Poughkeepsie man charged with illegal gun possession

POUGHKEEPSIE – A City of Poughkeepsie man was arrested early Wednesday after police found a loaded defaced handgun in his possession.
At about 12:23 a.m., police responded to a report of possible shots fired in the area of Kaal Rock Park. A man was spotted in the area and a foot pursuit ensued as he ran from police. A Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was brought in.  Davian Douglas, 19, was located and detained. The gun was found in a fanny pack.
An area search was conducted and two other men were located. They were issued a city ordinance ticket.
Douglas was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon as felonies, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a weapon as misdemeanors.
