KINGSTON – Ulster County’s District Attorney Holley Carnright is
seeking reelection to his third term unopposed by any major party challenger.

The Republican incumbent announced his candidacy Wednesday at a kickoff campaign event in Kingston. Democrats did not offer a challenger to Carnright at a nominating caucus also held last night.
Carnright told supporters he is proud of his record and what it has done for the residents of the county.
“Today in Ulster County crime is down. I’ve never been ever able to say that before; it’s the first time I have ever been able to run for office and say today in Ulster County crime is down,” he said to applause. “Robberies have decreased dramatically and our citizens feel safer because they are safer.”
Carnright said he is tough on crime and does not plea bargain, resulting in a high number of trials.
