WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Board of Legislators’ Chairman Michael Kaplowitz expects to name a successor to former Legislator Peter Harckham before the next meeting on June 15.
Harckham was named this last week as assistant director of the Office of Community Renewal by the governor.
Whoever is chosen to fill the remaining six months of Harckham’s term, by county law, may not run for a full term on the board.
Kaplowitz, a Democrat in a Democrat-controlled board, said he is committed to appointing a member of the same party to the vacant seat because voters of that legislative district had selected Harckham, who is also a Democrat.
