KINGSTON – The Kingston Post Office will be named in memory of Staff Sgt. Robert Dietz, a Kingston native who served in the military in World War II.  Sgt. Dietz was killed during battle.
Congressman Christopher Gibson (R, NY19) sponsored legislation naming the Kingston Post Office in his honor.
“While leading his troops on a very dangerous mission under heavy fire, Sgt. Dietz gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” Gibson said. “Our nation recognized his heroism. He was awarded the highest medal for bravery; he earned the Congressional Medal of Honor.”
Gibson said it is fitting that Dietz will be honored with the post office naming during this Memorial Day season.
