WASHINGTON – Two projects at the US Military Academy have been incorporated into the House and Senate appropriations bills.
A total of $70 million has been allocated to replace the waste water treatment plant, which was built in 1956 and has not been upgraded since 1972. The existing plant has leaking tanks that are beyond repair. It has been cited with several violations since 2009.
Another $55 million has been approved for a new elementary school at West Point. The current school was built in 1963 and remains in violation of several federal education and sustainability regulations.
Senator Charles Schumer announced the funds, which are included in the House and Senate appropriations bills.
