PLEASANT VALLEY – The New York State Police Troop K on the east side of the Hudson River held their annual Memorial Day ceremony to honor the lives of those members who died in the line of duty.
The annual commemoration is to remember those who died while protecting the region, said Public information officer Trooper Melissa McMorris.
“We have members who died in 1917 and we have members who died in 1987,” McMorris said.  “We need to make sure that they are remembered just as much as anybody else who goes before us. They build our foundation. Every day when we go to work we know that can happen to us and we need to remember the price that they paid for serving the State of New York.”
As with each year’s ceremony, a wreath is placed at a monument honoring those who died while serving in Troop K.
