Body recovered from Hudson believed to be Viafore

Authorities plac body recovered from Hudson on Orange County

CORNWALL – The body of a man found in the Hudson River off Cornwall
on Saturday is believed to be that of missing kayaker Vincent Viafore
of Poughkeepsie, who was lost on the evening of April 19 when his vessel
capsized.

An autopsy is expected to confirm his identity; however, police at the
scene said he was wearing clothing consistent with what Viafore had on
when he disappeared.

Viafore was kayaking in separate vessels with his fiancé, Angelika
Graswald when hid boat capsized and he went under.
Through investigation and interviews with Graswald she was charged with
murder.

The body was recovered by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Marine
Division assisted by the State Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s
Office and West Point military police.
