NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive
Edwin Day is undergoing prostate cancer treatment, his office announced
on Friday.

Due to the detection of the disease in an early stage, he is likely to
be cured by the procedure, his office said. The medical care took place
in New York City in the morning and the prognosis is excellent and significant
side effects are not expected, the office said.

Day expects to continue his official duties without interruption, but
temporarily on a reduced schedule.

His father died as a result of unchecked prostate cancer. “Because
of my family history of this disease, I am a firm believer of the importance
of early detection,” Day said.
