WAPPINGERS FALLS – Veterans remembered their fallen comrades Thursday at the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Castle Point VA hospital north of Beacon.
“On this Memorial Day, we acknowledge the sacrifice of all our service members,” said Major Emilio Melendez, the keynote speaker. He is the 105th Base Defense Squadron Operations Officer at the Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh. “Let us remember all of those who have deployed today. They are far from home but close to our hearts. Let us salute them and wish for their safe return, but more importantly let us make Memorial Day every day by never failing to honor the men and women who gave their all.
The ceremony was attended by several groups including veterans, a speaker from Arlington High School and the USO Show Troupe.
