MONTICELLO – A Sullivan County Court jury convicted a Loch Sheldrake man of sexual crimes against a child who was between the ages of 10 and 14 in the Village of Monticello.
Tyrome Chaneyfield, 49, was found guilty by a jury after a four-day trial on charges of 22 counts of rape and one count of predatory sexual assault against a female victim.  He faces a maximum of 25 years to life in state prison on the predatory sexual assault conviction and up to seven years in prison on each rape conviction.
Chaneyfield was arrested on September 26, 2014 following an investigation by the Sullivan County Family Violence Response Team, comprised of members of the county Child Protective Services, State Police and District Attorney’s Office.
The crimes occurred from 2008 through February 2013.
“This now 17-year-old showed enormous courage in coming forward and testifying against her abuser in court,” said District Attorney James Farrell.
Chaneyfield remains in the county jail without bail pending sentencing in July.
