CRAGSMOOR – A well-known member of the community and non-active member of the Cragsmoor Fire Department was found dead, lying face down in the department’s fill pond on Wednesday evening.
State Police said Joshua Peters, 43, of Cragsmoor was found at around 8 p.m. at a time when the members of the department were at the firehouse for a drill. CPR was administered by fire personnel before he was transported to Ellenville Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The cause remains under investigation.
State Police were assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and Ellenville First Aid.
