WARWICK – A 72-year-old Florida, New
York man was killed when the car he was driving on Union Corners Road
in the Town of Warwick late Monday afternoon was struck head on by a car
traveling in the opposite direction.
Warwick Town Police identified the victim as Joseph Kikkert, 72, who was
pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Barbara, 71, was transported to
Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill with serious, but
not life threatening injuries, police said.
The crash, at 4:10 p.m. near the town park, occurred when another car
driven by Theodore Ochsen, 32, of Port Jervis, apparently crossed into
the opposite lane and struck the Kikkert’s vehicle, police said.
Ochsen was also transported to Orange Regional with non-life threatening
injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and ask anyone who may
have witnessed it or was in the vicinity at the time to call the detective
