Police catch suspect following home invasion robbery

POUGHKEEPSIE – Police in the Poughkeepsie
area caught a man who allegedly committed a home invasion burglary at
a residence on Rinaldi Boulevard in the City of Poughkeepsie late Monday
morning.

He stole the victim’s vehicle and fled into the Town of Poughkeepsie
where he crashed it into a tree and took off on foot.

A dragnet of officers from the City of Poughkeepsie, towns of Poughkeepsie
and Hyde Park, Dutchess Sheriff’s Office and State Police combed
the woods in the area of VanWagner and Bedell roads.

The suspect, identified as Jerome Melting, 33, of the City of Poughkeepsie
was later caught and was charged with the felonies of burglary and assault.
