WOODBURY – Some four dozen teachers rallied after school on Friday outside the Monroe-Woodbury Middle School for renewed support for students and themselves by the state administration.
Orange County Legislature Minority Leader Christopher Eachus, himself a teacher, said the New York State United Teachers union is concerned about the way education is headed.
“There is a lot of discussion about new teacher evaluations,” Eachus said.  “There is discussion about equality in education and that the governor is proposing options throughout the education system and it seems like he as well as the legislators in Albany just don’t believe in public education any longer the way they used to.”
Eachus said NYSUT wants to make teaching at all levels “enjoyable again.”
