WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman who is an NYPD psychologist was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury for the attempted murder of her husband.
Emily Dearden, 47, allegedly shot Kenneth Darden in the head on November 14, 2013. She was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and four counts of criminal possession of a firearm.
District Attorney Janet DiFiore said “whatever may have precipitated the defendant’s actions against her husband, they were carried out just feet from where their children were sleeping.”
At about 4 a.m. on November 14, Dearden woke up with a pain on the left side of his head. He was taken to the hospital where it was determined he was shot in the head. Dearden spent eight days at Westchester Medical Center undergoing surgery and had a .22 caliber bullet removed from his jaw.
Mrs. Dearden was arrested on November 20, 2013 and remains in jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.  If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in state prison.
