NY Rising grants announced for Catskills, Hudson Valley communities

ALBANY – The first 30 NY Rising Community
Reconstruction Program grants have been announced for Catskills and Hudson
Valley communities. The program, which takes a bottom-up planning process,
is aimed at communities increasing their own physical, social and economic
resilience following impacts from Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and
Tropical Storm Lee.
In each community, NY Rising planning committees were formed to identify projects for upgrade and restoration work.

Village of Ellenville and Town of Wawarsing will receive a total of just under $3.7 million for stream bed rehabilitation
Town of Hardenburgh will receive $2 million for culvert repair, upgrade and replacement
Village of Margaretville will receive $1.8 million for Bull Run debris removal and stream bank restoration, retaining wall repair and bridge replacement
Town and Village of New Paltz will get $250,000 for Springtown Road Rail Trail approach reconstruction
Town of Olive will get $1 million for Esopus, Bushkill, and Maltby Hollow Creeks flood mitigation project
Town of Prattsville will receive $3 million for land acquisition, infrastructure expansion and regional health care facility
Town of Rochester will receive $800,000 for Rochester/Rondout Creek and tributaries immediate repair
Town of Rosendale will get $600,000 for flood control
Town of Saugerties will receive just under $575,700 to replace culverts at Platte Cove and Wilhelm Road
Village of Saugerties will get $806,000 for parks restoration
Town of Shandaken will receive just under $2 million for five bridges infrastructure
Village of Sidney will get $3 million for neighborhood extension
Town of Stony Point will receive $1 million for shoreline protection against erosion and wave action on Beach Road
Village of Washingtonville will receive $1 million for a joint master drainage plan
Town of Woodstock will get $650,000 for infrastructure improvements
