WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man was sentenced Thursday to 22 years to life in state prison for the February 10, 2014 killing of an 85-year-old neighborhood “grandmother” in that city.
Lloyd Lewis, also known as “Blue,” 33, pled guilty to murdering Emma Gruber in her home.
Her body had been found at the bottom of basement stairs under a pile of clothes and a piece of plywood. A bloody two-by-four piece of wood was found nearby.  The basement had a small flood because her water meter and copper pipes had been cut out and removed. A TV was also missing.
Three weeks after the homicide, Lewis was arrested for burglarizing a detached garage of a nearby abandoned home. Police investigation later tied him to the murder of the elderly woman.
