Neuhaus:  “We already had
discussions …”

NEWBURGH – The casino/resort to be constructed in Sullivan County will need a large numbers of construction and permanent jobs once the facilities are up and running and that could mean jobs for Orange County residents.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus brought his plan to do that to the Newburgh City Council Monday night.
Under agreements for the operation of the massive Kiamesha Lake project, 30 percent of those hired must be minorities, women and veterans, he said. That means communities in Orange County can contribute to the workforce, Neuhaus said.
To bring those residents to Sullivan County for construction or permanent jobs, the county executive is working with Coach USA to possibly provide bus service.
“We already had discussions with that corporation to have bus routes to places that can provide a good amount of employees,” he said.
In order to simplify the employment search and application process, Neuhaus
said the county will help facilitate job seekers.
Construction work is expected to begin this summer once the go ahead is given by the state. The casino must be up and running within two years after that.
