Cyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run

NEW CITY – Clarkstown Police are investigating
a hit-and-run accident in which a bicyclist was struck at 2 a.m. on Saturday
and seriously injured.

A 47-year-old New City man was riding on Old Route 304 in the area of
Cypress Street in New City at around 2 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle
traveling eastbound.

The victim suffered a serious head, leg and torso injuries and is being
treated at Nyack Hospital, Police said. He is in critical condition.

Debris and vehicle parts left at the scene indicate the vehicle was a
black Jeep with a black grill, possible a Grand Cherokee manufactured
between 2005 and 2007.

The vehicle should have front end damage to the grill, police said.
