ALBANY – It is now up to the governor to take action on a bill that would allow the towns of Marbletown and Rosendale to share town hall and justice court facilities in the same building – the former Rosendale Elementary School. Rosendale has been conducting its town business from that facility since November 2013.
The Senate approved the merged facility in March and now the Assembly has approved the measure, sponsored by Assemblyman Kevin Cahill (D-Kingston).
Approval of the consolidation will allow the towns access to $259,000 in Department of State local government efficiency grant funds to assist in the initial consolidation efforts.
“Through this consolidation effort we will be able to reduce property taxes for residents and offer more robust and efficient services to all Marbletown and Rosendale citizens,” said Marbletown Supervisor Michael Warren.
