Shots fired on Mount Vernon school yard

MOUNT VERNON – City Police in Mount Vernon are investigating a volley of shots fired in a school playground over the weekend.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the area of Grimes School on South 11th Avenue on a report of shots fired. Investigation revealed that there was a dispute outside the playground and that an unknown gunman opened fire. Ballistics evidence was recovered.
Detectives are investigating unconfirmed reports that one person was shot in the leg.
The suspect is described as a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
