SPRING VALLEY – A Spring Valley man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend on her way to classes at Spring Valley High School.
Savion Lewallen was charged with kidnapping, robbery, criminal contempt, assault, strangulation and criminal possession of stolen property.
Spring Valley Police said Lewallen assaulted, robbed and held the girl against her will in a wooded area for an extended period of time, despite having an active order of protection in place from a previous incident between the two.
The victim was eventually able to get free and reported the incident to school officials which triggered a school lockdown.
Lewallen was then spotted by Spring Valley Police in the area of his residence and he fled with officers in pursuit through a heavily wooded area.  An extended manhunt ensured involving police from Spring Valley, Clarkstown, Ramapo, Suffern, State Police and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, several K-9 units and the county’s helicopter.  Lewallen was eventually located and apprehended in the woods.
