Kaplowitz:  “… cutting edge of
energy savings …”

Legislature Chairman Michael Kaplowitz said that will bring the county into the 21st century in terms of energy conservation.
“This is a modern version of an entity that is going to help us save money, that’s going to look for grants, that’s going to bring energy efficiency, and it’s going to be a leader to municipalities, to businesses, individuals and to our government to get on the cutting edge of energy savings and energy environmental measures,” he said.
Kaplowitz first proposed the energy czar position and office in 2005and continued to push for it since then.
County Executive Robert Astorino is expected to appoint Timothy Carey, who was the executive director of the old agency to the energy director’s post.
Carey also previously served as chief operating officer of the New York Power Authority and was a five-term county legislator.
