POUGHKEEPSIE – The Democratic field for Poughkeepsie mayor is getting
crowded. Businessman Kenneth Levinson will kick off his campaign on Thursday
at the Poughkeepsie train station.

Currently, school board member Randall Johnson and city Alderman Robert
Mallory have both tossed their hats into the ring. All three are Democrats.

Levinson, who manages a business that rehabilitates underutilized housing
in Poughkeepsie, worked for IBM for 13 years in marketing, planning, forecasting
and management.

He holds a master’s degree in finance and feels his education and
years of forecasting and planning would translate in more accurate city
budgets and better financial management. “The city’s cash
flow crisis can best be addressed by prudent financial management,”
he said.

On the Republican side, Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Robert Rolison
has announced his candidacy to run for mayor.
