Volunteers at work doing some gardening

POUGHKEEPSIE – Over 20 volunteers from Rebuilding Together Dutchess joined in National Rebuilding Day to rehabilitate nine homes in the county on Saturday. The repairs were done at no cost to the homeowners who were either senior citizens, persons with disabilities, veterans or families in need.
They did everything from repairing siding to painting to landscaping at homes in, among other locations, Hyde Park, Poughkeepsie, Pleasant Valley and Stanfordville.
Community volunteers and elected officials alike joined in the effort led by local Rebuild Together Executive Director Christina Boryk.
“Our goal is to make a sustainable impact on their houses as well as their lives, in partnership with the communities we serve, and to do so without cost to those we are able to help,” Boryk said. “RTDC’s mission is completed with the help of everyday citizen volunteers, skilled trades people, the support of local business and major corporate partners.”
