POUGHKEEPSIE – State Police Friday
identified the inmate who died at Fishkill Correctional Facility just
before midnight on Tuesday, April 21 as 30-year-old Samuel Harrell.
Police said the circumstances regarding the death are under investigation;
however, they apparently involved corrections officers as two were injured
and treated at a local hospital.
An autopsy was performed, but the cause of death remains undetermined
pending toxicology reports, troopers said.
One week before, another state prison died at Sullivan County Correctional
Facility and three corrections officers were injured.
That is also under investigation.
