NEWBURGH – A Newburgh is charged with felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation by the Orange County Child Abuse Unit.
State Police arrested Alfredo Lopez, 35, following an investigation of a report to the state child abuse hotline in conjunction with the county Social Services Child Protective Services unit. That revealed that over a several month period, Lopez touched the victim, who was under the age of 13, in the intimate parts of the body.
Police said he was familiar with the child.
Lopez was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or bond.
