POUGHKEEPSIE – Rehabilitation work will begin this week on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. The Dutchess County Department of Public Works Highway Division will perform the tasks.
Existing surface pavement will be repaired along the trail to maintain an enjoyable and safe experience for all residents and visitors. The rail trail will remain open while work is underway, but trail users are advised to adhere to posted precautionary signs which may limit access to certain locations along the train.
Weather permitting, repair work will begin today and will last about two weeks.
Trail maintenance will start near Sheffield Road in the Town of Amenia and will continue south to the Allen Sand & Gravel bank entrance, about three-quarters of a mile north of the Wassaic Train Station.
Signs will be posted along the trail alerting visitors of the rehabilitation work.
