POUGHKEEPSIE – A mixed use development
on the almost 12-acre former Dutton Lumber Company site on the City of
Poughkeepsie’s northern-most waterfront area is ready to begin construction.
The city planning board granted final site plan approval on Tuesday night, paving the way for the project that will see 384 units of housing, 12,000 square feet of commercial space and a new waterfront park, all translating into positives for Poughkeepsie, said Mayor John Tkazyik.
“Not only a tax base increase but more people coming in to live here and to work here and to do business here, and to have more clean, open space along our waterfront for the public to enjoy,” he said.
Tkazyik said the project, which has been years in the planning, will help return Poughkeepsie to the Queen City status it once had.
