Greene County man accused of assault

SAUGERTIES – A Greenville man was arrested after an argument with his girlfriend that led to his forcible entry into a residence.
Garret Auer, 37, of Greene County, was charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass and attempted assault.
Saugerties Police said on Friday, April 10, Auer went to a residence on Kelly Road asking for gas money. He left and began arguing with his fiancée in the driveway of the home and after he forcibly pulled her out of the car, she ran away and into the house.
Auer took chase after the woman and forced his way into the home engaging the owner in a physical altercation damaging the residence and injuring the resident. He fled after one of the occupants pulled a firearm.
Auer’s fiancée remained in the house until police arrived.
He fled but was apprehended by Town of Ulster Police.
Auer was arraigned and released to a family member pending a future court appearance.
