TOWN OF WASHINGTON – A former employee of a man is charged with felony identity theft for allegedly assuming his name and obtaining $1,200 of electric service from Central Hudson fraudulently.
State Police arrested Michael Wellington, 45, of Millbrook after the victim filed a complaint because he received a bill from the utility for a property on Route 82 in the Town of Washington. The issue was that the victim did not own a residence there.
Troopers investigated and charged Wellington with assuming the man’s identity in order to obtain electric services at no cost to him. Wellington was released on $500 bail.
