PLEASANT VALLEY – State Police have
identified the victim in a fatal car-pedestrian accident on Friday night
as a 66-year-old Pleasant Valley man.

A Volkswagen driven by Katherine Marriott, 24, of Clinton Corners, struck
Kenneth Seiferheld, 66, and Nelly Umpierre, 53, also of Pleasant Valley.
Seiferheld was killed in the incident, while Umpierre remained in critical,
but stable condition at the hospital.

Police said heavy rain and dense fog were contributed factors to the crash
on Route 44 in the area of Timothy Heights where the two pedestrians were
reported fighting in the road.

State Police were assisted by the Pleasant Valley Fire Department. The
incident remains under investigation.
