NEWBURGH – Police are investigating a homicide that occurred early
on Friday morning outside a bar/restaurant in the City of Newburgh.This
is the first murder in the city this year.
When police responded at 4:15 a.m. to a report of an assault in progress,
outside El Rey Del Pollo IV at 398 Washington Street, they found a 40-year-old
City of Newburgh man with a head injury. He was transported by ambulance
to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh where he died.
The name of the victim was withheld by police pending notification of
relatives.
City Police are being assisted in the investigation by State Police Major
Crimes and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
