Molinaro plays ticket booth attendant

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro wants
to highlight the role of workers in the county so on Wednesday he switched
jobs with long-time public works employee Melody Newton, who is a ticket
booth attendant at the county’s Market Street, Poughkeepsie parking
lot.
As part of the trade, Newton served as acting county executive.
The swap was part of Molinaro’s efforts to highland the various aspects of county government and its service to residents. The other day he helped Meals on Wheels of Greater Hyde Park deliver meals to several residents and previously he served lunch to seniors at the annual Office for the Aging summer picnics.
Later this spring the county executive will be answering phones at the county Office for the Aging offices, where they assist with more than 150 calls each day.
“Dutchess County employees are the face of government to the members of the community,” Molinaro said. “While we continue to make county government work better and be more efficient, we must always think differently about how we can serve our residents.”
